My jaw drops. My heart stops. She can’t be a… “Virgin?”

I love him, but he’s still at the stupid stage where if a girl isn’t putting out, he has no use for her. Eventually, he’ll learn better, but his hormones are making his decisions these days.

“I put him off. He felt sorry enough for me to let me stay in your guest room, but he quickly moved on.”

“What made you say no?” After all, she must have known Ethan’s reputation when they started dating.

“He wasn’t you.” She lifts her head and places a slow, soft kiss on my lips that melts me. “I took one look at you and fell in love.”

That makes two of us.

“Oh, babygirl…” We should talk more, but later. Now, I really need to connect with her in the most primal way. “I’m going to make you mine, Havana Smith. And there’s no coming back from that. You’ll stay mine.”

“Promise?”

“Forever. You on the pill?” I hate to be practical, but I have to know what I’m dealing with. I want to make sure she’s thinking of the possible consequences.

“No. I’ve never had a reason…”

And I don’t have any condoms. Goddamn it… “If we do this now, you could get pregnant. We can wait until we’ve got protection.”

I’m not sixteen anymore. I’d like to start a family—and I want to do it the right way this time. With the right woman.

She shakes her head. “I don’t want to wait. As long as we’re together, I’ll be happy.”

That’s what I want, too. And this moment—this woman—feels perfect.

I kick off my jeans and shove down my boxers, gratified when they find their way to the floor. Then I slide my hands up Havana’s body. I lift her arms over her head and lock our fingers together. “We will be. Ready?”

She bites her lip—and wraps her legs around me. “I was ready the minute I met you.”

Oh, fuck. Though everything about her turns me on, her big, open heart might be the most arousing.

But when she lifts her hips and rolls them under me, it’s a close second. Suddenly I get her message. She doesn’t need momentous. She doesn’t even care if I’m gentle. She just wants me now.

My crest rests at her opening. She’s waiting, breath held. I look down, taking in her face, melding our stares together as I ease in, pushing against a barrier I’ve never felt on a woman—and didn’t think I would at this age. Then I surge in and break through her hymen.

She tenses, hissing.
